Swiss payroll is not
just a salary transfer

Six social insurance pillars, monthly remittances, annual reconciliations, and withholding tax declarations — all with legal liability if wrong.

All six social insurance pillars

AHV/IV/EO, ALV, BVG, UVG (occupational accident), NBUA (non-occupational accident), and KTG daily sickness — correctly split between employer and employee every month.

On-time, every month

Net pay file delivered to you by the 25th, so your bank transfer hits employee accounts on the last working day of the month. Never a day's delay.

Quellensteuer correctly calculated

Non-C-permit employees require withholding tax at cantonal rates. We apply the correct tariff per the Zürich KStA tables and file the monthly declaration on your behalf.

Cross-border and expat payroll

German, French, and Italian Grenzgänger; shadow payroll for inbound assignees; split payroll between jurisdictions. We handle the complexity so you don't have to.

Year-end Lohnausweis for every employee

Annual wage certificates prepared, reviewed, and delivered before the 31 January cantonal deadline. Electronic submission where the canton requires it.

New starters and leavers included

AHV registration for new employees, UVG notification, pension fund enrolment, and deregistration on departure — all within your fixed monthly fee.

We had three Grenzgänger and couldn't find anyone in Zürich who understood the withholding tax rules correctly. Treuhand Hive sorted it in the first month.

Swiss payroll questions,
answered directly

Every Swiss employer must deduct and remit: AHV/IV/EO (combined rate approx. 10.6%, split equally employer/employee), ALV (2.2% up to CHF 148'200, split equally), BVG pension (mandatory above CHF 22'050 annual salary, age-dependent rates), UVG occupational accident (employer pays), and NBUA non-occupational accident (employee pays for 8+ hours/week). KTG daily sickness allowance is contractually customary.
Quellensteuer is income tax withheld at source from employees who do not hold a Swiss C permit or Swiss citizenship. The rate depends on canton, gross salary, marital status, and number of children. For Zürich, the Kantonales Steueramt publishes annual rate tables. We calculate, deduct, and remit it monthly and issue annual certificates.
The Lohnausweis is the annual Swiss wage certificate required by the cantonal tax authorities. It documents gross salary, deductions, benefits in kind, expense reimbursements, and other compensation. We produce Lohnausweis for all employees by 31 January and submit electronically where the canton requires it.
Yes. Cross-border commuters (Grenzgänger) working in Switzerland but resident in an EU/EFTA country are subject to specific Quellensteuer rules under bilateral tax treaties. German residents working in Zürich, for example, have Quellensteuer credited against their German tax liability under the CH-DE double tax treaty. We handle the correct deduction rate and provide the required certificates.
Payroll calculation for all employees, net pay file for bank transfer, individual payslips, all social insurance payment schedules, Quellensteuer remittance, monthly payroll journal for the accounts, and year-end Lohnausweis. New starters and leavers are included in the monthly fee.
AHV/IV/EO and ALV contributions are typically remitted monthly or quarterly depending on your payroll volume — the Ausgleichskasse invoices based on your provisional annual salary total. BVG contributions are remitted monthly to the pension fund. We manage all payment schedules and reconcile annually.
